We thank God for his revelation regarding tonight’s show “SUBMISSION”; we are learning how to trust God’s plan for marital success and to realize the blessings couples can expect to receive as married partners or for those who plan to marry and seek to walk in the power of bi-lateral submission. Oh yes, we are suggesting that submission in marriage is a bilateral and joint responsibility and yes, this is confirmed in scripture consistent with God’s word and his intent for the institution of marriage (Ephesians 5:22-33) Submission can be viewed as a brother or sister to obedience and can be viewed first in God’s creation of man and secondly in his creation of marriage. Our first responsibility is to obey God and his predetermined plan for man’s success and to express God’s Agape love to whomever we encounter. Secondly, God created marriage in such a way that full success cannot be realized until married couples learn how to sacrifice personal desires in the effort to achieve God’s ultimate and optimum promise of oneness we discussed last week (Genesis 2:24). One of the most rewarding and enabling acts for marriage is also one of the most difficult acts of obedience to the marital union. In order to submit, we must first believe and obey God’s plan for marital success and that includes bi-lateral submission. Tonight we believe God will bless us with more insight and understanding; we suggest that marriage requires vulnerable and transparent spouses willing to submit one to another with the gifts God makes available to each; this willingness enables the gift of marriage and provides the pathway and emergence of oneness in our marriages. We are excited to share with you the marriage testimony of Howard and Margie Roberts who have know each other in marriage longer than anyone we personally know; we are praying and believing that God will bless each one of us as we hear how God has navigated the storms of life for this God fearing couple.
