Michele Garnett McKenzie is The Advocates for Human Rights’ director of advocacy, an organization based in Minneapolis, MN that has worked around the world for over 30 years with innovative programming that touches the lives of refugees and immigrants, women, ethnic and religious minorities, children, and other marginalized communities whose rights are at risk. http://www.theadvocatesforhumanrights.org/ She is responsible for policy advocacy and building coalitions around issues including human trafficking, refugee and immigrant rights, and diaspora community engagement. She also directs the Discover Human Rights initiative to engage U.S.-based social justice organizations in the human rights movement.
