Join Coz & Marti this evening as they host Peggy Dupree, a boots on the ground advocate for the elderly and others caught in these guardianships.
Florida currently has sb 994 under consideration. This bill appears to define and limit access to guardianships ...but does it really? The bill: Guardianship; Expanding factors for a court to consider when appointing a guardian; revising requirements for a petition for the appointment of a guardian; prohibiting professional guardians from petitioning for their own appointment except under certain circumstances; prohibiting guardians from taking certain actions on behalf of an alleged incapacitated person or minor, etc.
But how loosely is this written and how open to interpretation? Peggy has been doing lots of research and has picked this thing apart. The Bill can be found here: https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2020/994
Tune in and send us your thoughts.
