At Segueway, we are always on the lookout for non-business opportunities to teach us about individual and organizational behavior, and business.  One such experience has been Tom’s journey into ultra-running – running distances longer than the 26.2 miles of a marathon.  Next weekend, after eighteen months of purpose driven training, Tom will attempt to run his first 100 mile race at the Kettle Moraine 100 Endurance Runs – that’s nonstop from start to finish, 100 miles, on a trail, for 28 continuous hours.

What does running, and especially running 100 miles, have to do with business?  More than we could ever have imagined when Tom started on this insane journey! It has been similar to that of an entrepreneur, the small business, or even the corporate leader pursuing an opportunity.

In today’s instant gratification society we are conditioned to expect immediate results, and yet often lose sight that success is the result of long-term determination and the dedicated pursuit of a goal.

Join us Wednesday May 29, 2013 as we talk about what it takes to get ready for a 100 mile race, what Tom expects the race to be like, what goes into being prepared, and Tom may answer the question he is most often asked, “Why?”
