Welcome to "Community with Marie Lazzara."

On this show, Marie interviews people from the business and nonprofit sectors as well as those who provide unique contributions to their communities. Joining Marie is guest host Melissa Heisler, life and business coach.

Because April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, Marie and Melissa will interview licensed clinical social workers Bonnie Fries and Mark Parr from The Children’s Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County.

The center strives to reduce trauma; provides support to child victims of violence and their families and serves as a community resource to facilitate the identification, intervention and prevention of child abuse.

The ladies will also interview Nahid Sewell, author of The Ruby Tear Catcher. In her novel, Sewell described the struggles in the Middle East, driven by religious fervor and political change.

She is a frequent speaker on the topic of religious fundamentalism, with emphasis on its impact on women.
