It’s difficult to talk much about today’s economy without considering globalization.  No industry is more affected than technology.  Conversely technological developments are generally considered to be the primary driving force in the globalization process.

In the first edition of Perspectives on Globalization for Technology we discussed quite a number of issues ranging from intellectual property protection, to workforce issues and how technology firms can gain access to global markets.  In the second edition we explored further some of the marketing and distribution issues as well as infrastructure and workforce issues.    In the third edition we discussed some of the geopolitical issues that result from the globalization of technology.  In this fourth edition we’ll examine the human impact and how information technology has significantly improved communication among countries and people throughout the world.  We’ll also look at some of the individual and cultural differences that need to be considered in globalization.

We are fortunate to have with us today two of the worlds experts on globalization in technology.  Hans Peter Bech, based in Denmark, is the founder and CEO of TBK Consult (www.tbkconsult.com), which assists ambitious software-driven companies with the planning and execution of international penetration strategies in order to become global market leaders.  Jim Yates, the CEO and Founder of Network Magic Corporation, has more than 30 years of progressively responsible experience leading multi-national teams in Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas, directing businesses with revenues in excess of $250 million.  Jim is Australian by birth and is based in Orlando, Florida
