Mike Boehler and Michele Rempel of the Linked Local Network report on Dr. James Shaver, Optometrist and Woodmen of the World. Dr. James Shaver was born at a very early age in Goldsboro, NC.  He grew up nearby in Mt. Olive.  Painfully shy at a young age, he took up magic as a hobby.  This hobby lead to his love of microphones, which he seems to never put down.  

A lifelong member of Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society, he worked his way up the ranks of the fraternal side eventually serving as President of the North Carolina Jurisdiction and serving on several National Committees.  In 2006, he was elected to the Board of Directors of Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society/Omaha Woodmen.  He serves on the Audit Committee, Governance Committee, Compensation Committee and the Fraternal Service Fund Committee.  
 
An amateur magician and history buff, Shaver is also a member of The Travelers Protective Association of America, the Sons of the American Revolution, International Brotherhood of Magicians, Society of American Magicians, American Optometric Association, North Carolina Optometric Society, Piedmont Optometric Society and the North Carolina Zoological Society.
