Why do our religious gatherings disappoint us?

Why do we feel disappointed when we gather together with people who believe as we do? Shouldn't this be an exciting event with  music we love, liturgy that is familiar and, often comforting? Isn't it great to see those people we share a faith with on a regular basis? Didn't our Pastor or Rabbi or Imam,or Priest, etc., have something interesting and challenging to say last week?

So what is it? What are we not getting from our religious organizations?

Why do we feel bored, empty, disappointed at our places of worship?
