Dr. Shlain is a fixture at many digital health or emerging business model conferences focused in the disruption of silo-ed American ‘sickcare.’ He is the tireless warrior and ‘a pioneer in digital physician-and-patient-engagement’.
When Dr. Shlain talks people listen, and recently from the stage at the mHealth 2012 Summit he announced a $10 million Series-A investment in HealthLoop led by Canvas Venture Fund, an early-stage venture fund managed by the Morgenthaler Technology Investment Company.
In this exchange we learn more about the company including the marketplace pain inspiring it’s launch, and the innovative remedies unique to the HealthLoop platform. Among many intriguing observations, Dr. Shlain points out that the problem in healthcare is ‘..we have no healthcare ecosystem, but a freak-o-system’ of misaligned and silo-ed healthcare stakeholders with little incentive to co-operate.
