Carol M. Mackey is the former Editor in Chief of Black Expressions Book Club, the largest direct-to-consumer book club for African Americans in the nation. Under Mackey’s editorial leadership, Black Expressions was voted Best Book Club by the 
African American Literary Awards Show for eight years running. 

Widely recognized as a leading expert on African American literature, Mackey was named among the 50 Most Powerful African Americans In Publishing by Black Issues Book Review and has been featured in Literary Divas: The Top 100+ Most Admired African American Women in Literature. Mackey sits on the Board for the National Book Club Conference and the African American Literary Awards Show. An engaging on-air guest, she has appeared on several segments of CBS-TV’s morning news show and has been interviewed by other national media outlets on the state of African American publishing.
