Too often worries have the best of us. Unprepared, we see what is immediate, less so what is to come. Find a task that is rewarding or fail. Presented with proving merit, it is easy to find fault with the Order and feel unnerved by resignation and the injections of a profane world that followed us into the Craft. If we let go of what is familiar what have you? Confusion? If this is familiar you may believe developing insight is not possible. Disbelief and impatience will be your first challenges as you compare your progress with passive learners in the room, waiting for something that will never come. Receiving instruction in the language and protocols, education comes from dialogue all in the search for reason and purpose; serious commitment; deep thinking. Do you realize the difficulty of this uncommon challenge, achieved by uncommon minds? Did you seriously expect answers would be given you to prove what you need? Joining the Craft does not cleanse anyone of habit however, the Order expects mastery of emotion and an open mind. Prepare then to examine life, to apply principles and a post-humanist philosophy. History? Philosophy? Symbolism? Metaphor?- they blend into a cocktail needed to study the Arts & Science while those around mock what they do not understand. Will you be altered by the challenge of insight. Yes. Social rank, achievement, even bombast will not substitute proof and purpose. So ask questions to focus your studies knowing you are beginning gradually as you must. If there is a shortcut no one has found it yet. The steps you take are yours but you are never alone and the company is pretty good.
