Imagination may well be one of the most paradoxical aspects of a Mason. And when we are receptive to inspiration, it does just that. It tells us about us. Whether we are born to privilege or not, we have choices to make that define the kind of man we are in the act of becoming. Audacious. Comfortable. Until that moment when we frankly answer the question: Who Am I? Why would such a man mingle with ideas that border on darkness and mischief? We find we are capable of holding in mind a disagreeable thought. To comprehend our capacity and  one needs only to experience ideas through the eyes of another. And then ask the question. What does that capacity allow you to understand? Today I was introduced to the vintage work of Wm Meeson- An Introduction to Freemasonry 1775, and came away with a sense that not only is there a subtext to Freemasonry but it is nuanced. A secret there to be discovered when a man asks the question, why? .  Wouldn't it be simple if someone else could answer that question for you and me?  Except it would be the thinking of another, leaving a space for your authenticity to appear on the horizon. How you might ask, does imagination have value?  Good question. Value depends on the depth of the question. And that is the mystery. Giving us the tools does not mean we know what to do with them. But don't be surprised if there is genius where it is least expected.
