Freedom of thought might sound sweet when the heel of oppression is being applied. Without preparation freedom is escape that brings with it emotional  baggage. Anger is a temporary emotion. When men cannot control their emotion, conflict is inevitable. Freemasonry provides reason when ethics are absorbed to allow a group of men the ability to live in harmony, teaching what to do when that atmosphere is threatened.  It would seem simple but it isn't.  Aggression, whether from lions of society or business types rough attitude most familiar is assuring. Mistrust and cynicism doesn't vanish when a man walks through the door. Thoughtful men speak to us about conceits, suggesting if avoid being governed by them requires awareness.  After studying the phenomena the health benefits of a contemplative personae made it the holy grail of wishful thinking. Freemasonry is respectfully, an uneven process. If he has the courage to ask, answers are revealed. Insight is not necessarily a beautiful innocent panacea. It is about unvarnished truth. As if we ever thought being a Freemason did not have a price.  Maybe this alone is how our mysterious, old order became known for acting with subtlety. The exchange of ideas and information can happen in a whisper, yet we shout. Imagination happens in the mind of an individual. Promoting groupthink was so popular when efficiency was G-dlessly applied to isolate contemplation. Somehow, a man connected to our community inspires. And as he progresses with his study of ethics, meaning and understanding becomes his only purpose. Ask the question, do the work and we find subtlety and lightness underfoot for all to savour or mock according to his inclination. Bring in a metaphor. Unpack secret knowledge. All is unknown and meaningless until the question.  So does meaning exist?  Let's talk about it shall we?
