WHAT CAN ONE DO TO HELP?

Audi. Vide. Tace.  Ony a fool would undertake a task motivated intending to win an award. True masonry instills a desire in us to do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. Self-development for freemasons is a net. Most men being in their conceits, small-minded, initially fall through and are not harvested until they have grown.  Enthusiasts and libertines fail to make the next harvest either.  Real Freemasonry is the competition without gamesmanship, where our competitor is none other than yourself. Ponder this for a moment. An example comes to mind, Bro. George Washington- for no other reason than his name came up a few days ago in a reference.  George was initiated when he was just twenty and never went beyond that. But such is the continued use of fallacious argument to appeal to a person celebrity rather than the strength of his position. It would be better the influence of his leadership become the focus, than his political rank. But that would require study. And so is revealed the fallacious argument.  It is simply lazy thinking. Why would masonry exalt celebrity and still claim equality?  It couldn't and it is a weakness. Better to refocus our attention on the learned nature of our environments, the lounges and libraries we create to enable Brethren to relax in comfort as they learn, enveloped by music, embraced by the artwork and framed by symbolism as old as time itself.  And what can we do to help? Ask yourself that question.  Methinks we take too much for granted.  Where to start?
