Masonry is so much more than a solid constitution. It's history reveals not the pinnacle of achievement but achieves significant in their time. Today, the opportunities arise to greet us, with the challenge: to settle or risk a walk down a path built on the aspirations of great thinkers who helped us arrive at this masonic moment. Do we restrain the entered apprentices? Do we in ignorance tether them to a lexicon of reenactment?  By accounting for our teaching methods, we can calculate with some accuracy, how and why growth is sporadic.  Once upon a time, all knowledge was determined from incomplete ideology until it was (inevitably) confronted by the observable world of science.  It is not whether we cling energetically to a status quo but at what cost do we perform our ritual without realizing it was meant to lead to an enduring good life, dependent solely on a person's mind.  Twenty-five centuries ago, the rare genius of Confucious revealed a world based on rules- ethics, the 5 virtues and applied philosophy.   Do nothing for yourself that you would not do to another.  For Confucious, philosophy of living had to be applied in all aspects of daily life making ritual a link between the ancestors and us. Through scholarship, the secrets of living the good life are revealed. If a superficial skim through chapter headings taught physics or chemistry or mathematics, then we would not have colleges and universities. We would not take information and make it known by debate and discussion. But that is what Socrates gave us. So powerful is the elixir of freemasonry that men often express changes based on the superficial.
