The May 25, 2020, police killing of the black man George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has touched off a wave of iconoclasm in the United States and beyond against any historically tainted memorials.  Rioters have destroyed Confederate statues in the United States as well as those of slave traders in the United Kingdom.  Christopher Columbus statues in Minneapolis and Boston, Massachusetts, have also toppled while protesters have defaced statues of King Leopold II in Belgium, who oversaw the deaths of millions in his brutal nineteenth-century exploitation of the Congo.  Now Confederate names of American military installations are in question.  While Leftists with often questionaalbe motives are prompting Western societies to engage in yet another round of critical introspection concerning sins like racism, these activists show little concern for similar evils in the history of Islam like slavery and jihad aggression.  Thus the Hamas-derived Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) join calls to remove America's Confederate memorials without any sense of irony.  Show host Andrew E. Harrod will discuss questions concerning historical memory in the West and in Islam.
