Why Did God Allow It?

Satan caused real chaos in heaven. mHe caused desertion, wrecked the educational classes, taught false doctrine, and made war. Why did God tolerate it? Why didn’t He nip it in the bud? In the scriptures we read that Jesus had much less tolerance for a little tree:

Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered. And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. and presently the fig tree withered away. (Matt. 21:18-19)

At least the poor little tree had some green leaves, but it was cursed anyway. Why then did God spare Satan who didn’t even have so much as a green leaf in his favor?

There were many good reasons why God did not interfere with Lucifer: First, God allowed him his free agency. Second, Lucifer could prove for himself what he wanted to be. And [56] third, it provided everyone with a choice so each could be what he wanted to be.

The reason war was allowed in heaven is because it provided a choice of the two opposites–even many ramifications in between. It allowed some to be valiant and others to be cowards; to be indifferent or to be traitors, or to just follow along with the crowd. It has been said that no other force can change people, their attitude and even their nation like war–and so it was in that world.
