My name is Travis Parker. I am the writer and director of the movie called The Candy Ban. I’ve always been a big advocate for my children making their own way in the world. I’ve helped them create their own businesses starting from young ages.My oldest daughter started a popcorn business that is still going strong today. (she’s now 13). My youngest daughter started a sucker and snow cone business (she’s now 10). These kids are filthy rich now compared to their friends!, They have a really good sense of the value of a dollar. During Covid, people within their community and the local government tried to shut them and other small businesses in the area down even though they have all the proper food vendors licenses. This movie is a comical rebuttal to local government over reach and the unintended consequences of it.The Candy Ban is about a mayor and school principal that enact a sugar ban on the whole city. This in turn creates frustrations and sugar withdrawal amongst the kids in a town. When a couple kids realize they can capitalize on the situation, they decide to make an illegal, underground candy business and run it like a drug ring. The shortage of sugar makes for some funny hardships for the kids that they have to overcome, which in turn gets them into even more trouble. I don’t make movies for a living,  it is just a hobby for me. We make movies as summer projects for the local kids in the surrounding area, and then show them at the local theater and on YouTube. Our production page can be found on Facebook if you search Scratchboard productions. The YouTube page is @ gendoboy I live in Ammon, Idaho and can’t wait to be on the show!!
