Mad Scientists Exposed Replay: Daylight Savings, Why do we do this to ourselves?

Now that the world has moved from mostly an agrarian economy to a 24 economy, why do we beat ourselves up twice a year by shifting our clocks back and forth and pretend we're living in time zones east of where we actually live?  It makes no sense, and at least 2 states (AZ & HI) have opted out.  Now that we are approaching punching ourselves in the head yet again, by shifting clocks again within a month, please enjoy this timely replay episode of the Mad Scientists Exposed!

Daylight Time = Standard Time + 1

EDT = Atlantic Standard Time (Nova Scotia, Peru)

CDT = EST

MDT = CST

PDT = MST

Just nuts.
