Special Guest: Malcolm McPhail Group CEO of Life Leisure and Danny Drayson, Fitness Manager of Life Leisure

Join us as we discuss the benefits of focusing on ‘preferred behaviours’ as a staff development tool. We will also look at why over-emphasis on traditional job descriptions could be de-motivating for employees, and possibly holding back your next star staff member.

Malcolm McPhail firmly believes that helping staff to be “their personal best” is one of the most powerful employee engagement tools there is. So much so that on joining Life Leisure as CEO, he scrapped job descriptions and traditional evaluations in favour of a model where staff are recognised and rewarded for demonstrating principles that embody Life Leisure’s ethos.

Through this behaviour programme any staff member, at any level, can become a company champion and be part of steering groups on business development areas. It’s an approach that saw our second guest, Danny Drayson, go from having no career prospects to being named the UK fitness industry’s outstanding individual of the year in 2017.
