Oftentimes believers in Jesus Christ encounter challenges as they journey through life. They experience the lusts of their own will which is opposed to the will of God. They come to know the temptation to compromise righteousness. They feel the pressure to follow their own minds instead of a direct command of God. They eventually face the grip of unbelief. During these trials of temptation the flesh (self-life) will seek to blame someone or something for the present distress. If suffering is not humbly embraced, fault finding, murmuring and complaining will result. 

1 Corinthians 10:10

Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
