From Fresno to Houston, to Phoenix, Oregon, Colorado, El Paso, Sonoma county, Sacramento, San Bernardino County, and the Bay Area, we invite everyone to a virtual demonstration in support of all workers at a time of crisis. The goal is to stand in solidarity with “essential” workers (especially the undocumented) at a time when they are expected to show up to work, feed, care for, and provide the basic needs to Americans while placing their own lives in danger. Black and Brown's workers have been killed at an alarming rate by the coronavirus & this racial inequality will be a key focus of our May 1st event. This is a question about the health & safety of some of the most vulnerable workers. * Least paid * Least likely to have insurance * Least likely to have a savings account * Least likely to own a home & thus rent * Least appreciated yet the most hunted by ICE!
Some say we must not do anything and “just stay home.” Others worry that we will “endanger others lives” through our activism. We say now, more than ever, people must take a stand on Friday, May 1st whether through social media, caravans, or (if legal in your city) in person.
We cannot be frightened into inactivity or silence. Thus we encourage people to do what you can but post your support online so that this virtual demonstration in support of the least appreciated and least paid is noted in history Everyone please post: #aVirtualMayDay2020
