Sheila Willis is passionate about combining heritage resources and travel experiences to promote rural economic development.
Self described as a housewife from the bush, Sheila is the creator of the History Check mobile app; a collaborative initiative amongst sectors and regions to bring heritage stories
and tourism opportunities together on one, Alberta wide mobile app.
Sheila, and the History Check project are the recipient of two provincial awards; the 2018 Outstanding Achievement Award for Heritage Awareness and the 2019 Marketing Award at
Growing Rural Tourism. She was also a finalist for the 2019 Governor Generals History Award for Excellence in Community Programming.
She hopes her firm belief in cooperation and collaboration inspires others as they creatively increase heritage awareness and tourism in her province, Alberta.
