This Saturday, we continue our exploration of a continental nation on a "not far-distant planet" in our local system of inhabited worlds.

Beginning Part 1 of our study found us grateful that permission was granted to make this extraordinary and unusual presentation in the Urantia Revelation. We were eager to explore the many similarities between that world and ours.

The civilization on this planet represents a culture that is rich with history and strife; not unlike ours. In telling us "something of the social, moral, and political life" of this advancing continental culture, we found insightful possibilities and plausible next steps for our own advancing human civilization and for life as we know it on our world.

Last week we learned a lot about this continental nation, including it's history and evolution, the racial makeup of its citizens, and especially its political organization. We marveled at the three houses that make up the legislative aspect of their democracy:

1. The upper house is elected by industrial, professional, agricultural, and other groups of workers, balloting in accordance with economic function.

2. The lower house is elected by certain organizations of society embracing the social, political, and philosophic groups not included in industry or the professions.

3. The third house—the elder statesmen—embraces the veterans of civic service and includes many distinguished persons nominated by the chief executive... The scope of this body is purely advisory, but it is a mighty regulator of public opinion and exerts a powerful influence upon all branches of the government.

It occurred to us that the creation of a "lower house" in our country could prevent the need for corporations to lobby Congress.

We hope you can listen in this week as we continue our lively exploration of Urantia Paper 72.
