Cockeysville, MD – Wanda Smith is the founder and CEO of Symphony Placements, a flexible staffing and HR solutions company. The “little company in Cockeysville” is now serving clients in six states with plans to expand even further. Symphony Placements has seen its biggest growth specializing in staffing call centers around the world.

“I don’t refer to us as a temp service and I don’t refer to our people as temps,” says Wanda. “We provide a valuable service to employers when they’re not able to hire the right person for their company. They can call us and get a very qualified, experienced, fully-vetted individual who can come in and either help out with projects until they fill the position or the assignment employee is hired.”

What many people don’t realize, says Wanda, is that staffing companies today can also operate just like any other employer; Symphony Placements provides paid vacation, paid holidays, 401k, short and long-term disability, and even health, vision and dental insurance.

“It’s a great way of dipping your toe into the corporate world to see where you really would like to take a swim,” says Wanda. “The employee benefits by getting to try working for a company without messing up their resume taking a permanent position, only to find it’s not the right culture and they leave. Other people just don’t want a permanent job. They are happy with their flexibility.”
