CUTV News Radio spotlights engineer David L. Sanders

Katy, TX – Almost any device or piece of equipment you’ve ever used or the equipment that was used to make the things you use every day was designed and built by teams of engineers. And each year, these engineers make improvements to that equipment to improve our standard of living just a little bit more.

But when an engineer is working on site in an oil refinery in the Middle East, this work becomes especially important, not just for the quality of the product but the safety of the people.

David L. Sanders has worked in chemical plants, gas plants and oil refineries all over the world providing mechanical engineering expertise.

“I want to educate people about what goes on to deliver these products,” says Sanders. “It takes a lot of equipment, but really it requires a lot of smart people working together.”

Sanders says he was inspired to pursue mechanical engineering because he excelled in math and science and had an interest in it. In 28 years, Sanders has done everything from addressing equipment problems and small capital projects to developing predictive and preventative maintenance solutions and designs for bid proposals. 

On site, Sanders collaborates with chemical engineers, electrical engineers, as well as other mechanical engineers, mechanics, supervisors, vendors to deliver the best. With all these unique disciplines, Sanders says it can be a challenging collaborative environment -- sometimes you talk to a colleague alone and sometimes you talk to everybody at once – but he sees himself as a strong collaborator because he enjoys being part of a team.
