Spring, TXRene Murata is true facilitator in every sense of the word. Whether it’s the safety and security of the people working in potentially hazardous conditions or coaching women leaders to draw on their intuitive healing selves, Murata is motivated by a desire to use her extensive expertise to help others.

“Facilitation is a unique skill among leaders,” says Murata. “It requires wearing multiple hats and changing those hats as you go. Sometimes you’re the teacher, sometimes you’re the student, either way, helping others has always been the underlying theme of all my work”

Murata, an entrepreneur, is the founder of RISK, Inc., a process safety consulting firm serving the gas, oil, chemicals and petrochemicals industries. RISK (Risk, Integrity, Safety, Knowledge) helps companies that work with hazardous chemicals to develop the necessary internal policies and procedures in Process Safety Management (PSM) required of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Today, Murata is committed to facilitating the next generation of women with CEO Essence, a coaching practice for emerging women business leaders.

“I think most books on how to be a CEO or how to be a good manager are geared toward men, primarily because most CEOs are men,” says Murata. “For women to succeed in developing a CEO’s mindset in any business, they need to start by understanding that you don’t work for someone, you work with someone. If they can shift that mindset, that can change a lot.”
