Santa Cruz, CA – We are all prone to stress. How we respond to our stress will determine how effective we can be as leaders.

According to executive coach Stefan Matthies, we have to acknowledge that our colleagues, bosses and subordinates are human beings, too. There must be a connection with a sense of humor and lightness in the work environment for work to be accomplished efficiently and of high quality.

Matthies is the founder of Matthies International, an executive coaching practice that offers leadership coaching for senior executives and teams in global organizations. Matthies International is dedicated to helping global organizations achieve greater results by improving the effectiveness of their executives and their senior leadership teams.

“Most of my clients are senior executives with global responsibilities,” says Matthies. “Sometimes people are very strong decision makers, but the new generation of employee requires a different leadership style. There needs to be emotional leadership competence and lightness.”

Matthies works with executives and their senior management teams to maximize performance in the areas of leadership, executive presence, influencing, global leadership, alignment, communication and conflict management. Matthieshas worked with Fortune 500 clients for over 20 years, both in the United States and in Germany.

“I go back and forth between those two cultures, says Matthies. “They like being coached by the humorous German guy because I bring a different perspective. Coaching is hard work, and one of the most critical component of leadership is humor. Sometimes I call myself the Lightness Coach. It’s my goal to bring lightness into leadership.”
