Shalimar, FL – Major studies have shown that despite some progress, women remain underrepresented at every level in corporations, and continue to face a playing field is anything but level. What can be done to make progress toward gender equality in the workplace and beyond?

Delilah Richmond is a staunch advocate for women’s rights in the workplace and a fierce supporter of women’s issues.

“That’s what I consider myself,” says Delilah. “I desire a level playing field for men and women. Too often women are held back because of perception. These ideas are so ingrained it’s difficult to identify what they are let alone reverse them.”

Delilah says when a man goes to work he goes to work, but when a woman goes to work she is still consistently reminded that she is a woman at work. Though many military and civilian work environments are changing, it still seems to be a slow process.

“The military work environments that I’ve found myself in didn’t have a lot of women to start with,” recalls Delilah. “I was always around a lot of men. Once I got to the level of supervisor, they looked at me a little different. Now I was in a position of authority. They didn’t care for that”

Delilah says the only way to prove them wrong is to continue to do our best every day.

Says Delilah: “There’s a lot more work to be done and that’s what I want to do by calling attention to these issues.”
