Houston, TX – Clinical psychologist Dr. Robert Weinberger is the founder of Weinberger, Black & Associates: a private, multi-disciplinary mental health group practice that specializes in Psychotherapy and Intensive Outpatient Treatment for Addiction Recovery, serving the needs of children, teens, adults, families and couples. For nearly 40 years, Weinberger, Black & Associates has asserted itself among the finest practices in the country with its unique approach to integrated care.

“It’s not only multi-disciplinary, it’s inter-disciplinary, coordinated care,” says Dr. Weinberger. “It’s clinical social workers, chemical dependency counselors, licensed professional counselors, psychiatrists and psychologists - all working on the same team within the same family. That’s the kind of practice we have and that’s rather unique.”

About a third of the practice’s patients visit Weinberger, Black & Associates for traditional therapy; the other two thirds of the practice, however, are more complicated cases, typically cases of addiction in a family that have been treatment failures elsewhere and would rather try something different than checking into a hospital or facility.

“What is an addiction? It’s ‘an excessive need to.’ It’s when you ‘cannot not.’ Any addict can stop for a while but the problem is, they can’t stay stopped,” explains Dr. Weinberger. “WBA gives people choices about their or their loved one’s level of care, and whatever strategy is chosen, it’s only the beginning. True recovery – staying stopped, living sober, staying connected and enjoying life – is a process, not an event.”
