Mukilteo, WA – In the 21st century, our society faces critical problems regarding its sustainability. Population growth and aging, shortage of clean water, diminishing energy sources, corruption on rise, failing institutes, failing states, the increasing gap between rich and poor, and environmental issues are critical factors related to various societal systems, which are essential for sustainability.

In order to develop solutions for these great challenges and societal problems, we need a framework and models that are as complex as reality, a holistic approach that integrates any variable that affects a societal system in use to help engineer a more sustainable society.

The World Organization of Societal Systems Engineers (WOSSE) claims to have developed such a framework that integrates various models for sustainable societal systems development. Dr. Dieter Feldmann and his partner Naseer A. Choudhry, both from WOSSE, have developed the methodology of Societal Systems Engineering to address the problems of societal and business sustainability in today’s era of dynamic globalization.

“All the elements which affect business as well as societal sustainability are constantly in flux, that’s why we call it the dynamics of globalization,” says Dr. Feldmann. “The mistake many people make is they wish to be stable, not dynamic, because dynamics are too difficult to digest and predict.”

WOSSE’s model can be applied to solve societal systems problems, including sustainability, addressing  socio-economic, socio-ecological, socio-technological and socio-cultural aspects, all critical for a sustainable society in the age of global commonwealth.
