Part 6: Close-Up Talk Radio spotlights Mary Ann Worsham

Powhatan, VA – Seemingly from the moment she was born, Mary Ann Worsham’s life has been fraught with tragedy and misfortune, any one of which could have ruined her if she’d let them.

Today Worsham is the author of the forthcoming What to Do When ‘That Can’t Happen to Me’ Really Does Happen to You. Part memoir, part survival guide, the book offers detailed accounts of her remarkable experiences while offering readers practical advice for life’s many unexpected adversities. Worsham takes us through a litany of hypothetical scenarios, guiding us through how to best respond when you find yourself faced with a financial, legal or health-related crisis.

“I wrote this book because I wanted to give my story a voice,” says Worsham. “But my ultimate purpose is to help people. No one should have to go through what I’ve gone through if they can help it.”

In 1996, Worsham was the victim of a horrific crime. A week before the custody hearing that would decide the fate of their children, her husband entered her house while Worsham was sleeping and proceeded to bludgeon and stab Worsham until he was convinced she was dead.

“After I got out of the hospital, I had absolutely nothing," says Worsham, "but I still had the desire to help people. That’s why I wrote this book. Who better to help a person than someone who’s been through my experiences?”

What to Do When ‘That Can’t Happen to Me’ Really Does Happen to You covers an array of topics and subjects ranging from abortion to fraud to wrongful arrest.

“I don’t feel like a victim,” says Worsham. “I believe God brings me these things to add to my book to help more people.”
