“My goal is to serve as a guide for my clients, not a dictator,” says Baker. “Each client is unique and must be treated with the utmost respect. They may have a limited education in this area but they are also seeking something they have in their mind. It’s my job to achieve that.”

Fluent in all periods in styles, Tommye Pitts Interior’s clients include some of the most prominent members of the Dallas community. Baker herself boasts more than 50 years of experience in the field, developing the expertise to inspire, interpret and refine her clients’ concept for their lifespace.

“I don’t want anybody to know that I’ve walked in that house,” says Baker. “A new lifespace is like a new child in the family. You treat it with care. Each person has their own personality and the space has to reflect that.”

Baker knew she would professionally pursue a career in the fine arts field when she was in the sixth grade. In her capacity as an educator, she has also served as a liaison between the ivory tower of higher education and the real world market.

“Every day is a new beginning with new challenges and problems to solve,” says Baker.
