Where did the time go? It's speeding towards the middle of May. Like we said there is a lot to celebrate in May in preparation for the festivals of Summer. Usually around this time it's graduation a bitter sweet moment when students excitedly look forward to saying goodbye to school and going out into the world to seek their fortunes and the not so exciting moment of saying goodbye to friends and classmates. It is also Mother's Day this weekend, a highly celebrated cherished moment for many. We will celebrate it all with you.
Unfortunately, there is a dark and unwelcome cloud that hangs over graduation ceremonies this year as Israel continues its program of genocide against the Palestinian people. On campuses all around the world, the students are protesting against these atrocities. Adminstrators have responded by calling in the police who violently break up these protests. The students are relentless. Accordingly, graduation ceremonies have been cancelled. Students at Xavier University In Louisiana, an HBCU have pressured the University to disinvite the American UN ambassador, Linda Thomas-Greenfield who was scheduled to be the commencement speaker because the ambassador voted against cease-fire resolutions in Gaza. Author, Colson Whitehead withdrew from giving the keynote address at the University of Massachsetts, Amherst to express his disapproval of the university calling the police to break up student protest. Some think that the protesting students are threatening their future and that of their colleagues. What do you think? Come on in. Join the conversation or tell us what you want to talk about. We will be happy to hear from you.
