Did anybody get the chance to celebrate the cool nights and mornings of September? Did you get to see the dew on the grass? Well if you didn't you've got one more week to try because it seems that September is whizzing by. So what is it? Is this part of the great global climate catastrophe. Well we still have something to be thankful for and celebrate. So far we have not experienced the catastrophic hurricane in the Caribbean. So far so good. We just hope that it stays calm. And to all the birthday and other celebrants we are here to celebrate with you because that's what we do. Somewhere in between we take a little time out for a conversation. So let's talk.

Darryl George, a Black high school student in Texas is facing in school suspension for his hair. The young man wears his hair in dred locks. The school says his hair violates the dress and grooming code. Mind you the young man is well groomed. He is not dirty or unkempt. But here is the tricky part. He is being punished despite the fact that there is a law in Texas that bans discrimination on hair texture or hair styles associated with race. Banks and other businesses have been doing this for years under the guise of professionalism. Do you remember when we were denigrated or punished in our own societies for having "nappy hair"? Does this really have anything to do with dress code and grooming or is this plain racist? How is a young Black person with a natural hairstyle offensive or disruptive? Join the conversation. Tell us what you think or tell us what you want to talk about. We'll be happy to hear from you.
