The Saturday Morning Entertainment Show - A Titanic Misjudgment

Today is April 15 and we are midway into the Fourth month of 2023.and there are lots of birthdays, events and anniversaries that have been celebrated on this date to commemorate history. We can't name them all but we sure can celebrate with you on the Saturday Morning Entertainment Show with host Ivor Henry and brought to you by Caribbean Global Voices. There is carnival in St. Thomas and St. Martin. So let's hope that people come out an have a great time in ONE LOVE.

Some time in the early Morning hours of April 15, 1912 a British luxury passenger liner sunk beneath waves of the North Atlantic on its maiden voyage after hitting an iceberg. It was sailing from North Hampton England to New York City.  It was the largest ocean liner of its day and was credited as being unsinkable. There have been many stories told about the cause of this tragic event including the claim that the belief that it was unsinkable made the operators think that they did not have to avoid the iceberg but could just go through it. Other claims are that it was travelling too fast and could not turn to avoid the iceberg and sideswiped it.  More than 1500 lives were lost. Well whichever way it goes, it is an early twentieth century lesson in the admonition that you cannot control or dictate to Mother Nature.. Well some people will try anyway.

A  white twenty one year veteran of the Kansas City Missouri Police Department is suing the city claiming that he was specifically told to mistreat Black people.. Edward Williams said in his lawsuit that superiors told him to target Black neighborhoods to meet ticket quotas, do not respond to distress calls from Black neighborhoods and be ready to kill when he goes into those neighborhoods.
