Cheri Livingston has spearheaded thesecondopinion, a San Francisco-based nonprofit founded in 1969 by William Lester Rogers, MD and a group of pioneering Bay Area physicians providing free, comprehensive second opinions to adults diagnosed with new or recurring cancers since 2014. Under her leadership, thesecondopinion plans to expand its services to rural and low-income communities neighboring the Bay Area. Thesecondopinion has consultated more than 10,000 adults for free.

Joni Venticinque, a two-time breast cancer survivor and active volunteer has 12+ years' experience advocating for cancer patients and their families. She has been an advocate reviewer and member of the research team on grants for California Breast Cancer Research Program, Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program, NCI and PCORI assuring cancer patients’ needs are understood and addressed in supported research. A a current member and past chair of the California Breast Cancer Research Program Council and a community member on the Stanford Scientific Review Committee, Stanford Cancer Center, her continuing work with thesecondopinion keeps her connected with the current breast cancer issues. She is driven to promote true translational research to improve patient outcomes and quality of life after cancer.
