SDG 47 How I learned to Triumph over Temptation PT 1

Luke  Chapter 4 verses 1 and 2

How are you doing at overcoming temptation today?  Are you overcoming or being overcome?

Today I’d like to share with you what the Holy Spirit taught me from the Bible about the right way to triumph over temptation.

 So are you a victim or a victor? 

Did you know the great debate in the Church today is between Calvinism and Arminianism but ignores a third possibility: And that’s The Overcomers.

OVERCOMMERS are those who truly have eternal security and recognize the distinction between merely entering and receiving an inheritance in heaven, and the variation of rewards.

And THIS is why what we do here on earth as believers DOES matter.  In a sense, although we were not saved BY works we were saved FOR works which is where free will actually comes into play.

ULTIMATELY Our eternal inheritance is defined by how well we comply to verses like Romans 6:13.

 So this is why Jesus came as the Son of God AND the Son of man.  The Son of God to free us from the penalty of our sin by the blood He shed on the cross and as the Son of man to show us The Way to have victory over the power of sin in our lives!

This week we will see the three ways people deal with temptation.

The four "P's" of temptation and the Three POINTS of Temptation: Body, Soul and Spirit. The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life...

 And then next week in part 2 I'll share what I've learned on how Jesus overcame temptation. NOT as the Son of God but as The Son of man, showing us the way!!!
