Chris Humphreys was born in Canada, grew up in LA till 7, then the UK. My dad was an actor, as were all four grandparents and my mother's father was also a famous Norwegian writer. My dad was a WW2 Fighter pilot and my Mum was a spy in the Norwegian resistance. . Famous roles have included Hamlet, Caleb the gladiator in biblical-roman epic 'AD', Graham Ashe, the immortal in 'Highander' and the original voice of Salem the cat in 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch'. His recent novel 'Plague' won Canada's Arthur Ellis Award for Best Crime Novel in 2015. The sequel, 'Fire' is a thriller set during the Great Fire, published Summer 2016. Both novels spent five weeks in the top ten on 2016's Globe and Mail and Toronto Star Bestseller lists.

Here is an excerpt from "Plague": London, May 1665. On a dark road outside London, a simple robbery goes horribly wrong – when the gentlemanly highwayman, William Coke, discovers that his intended victims have been brutally slaughtered. Suspected of the murders, Coke is forced into an uneasy alliance with the man who pursues him – the relentless thief-taker, Pitman. Together they seek the killer – and uncover a conspiracy that reaches from the glittering, debauched court of King Charles to the worst slum in the city, St Giles in the Fields. But there’s another murderer moving through the slums, the taverns and palaces, slipping under the doorways of the rich.

And stick around for the second half of the show; Brian will have headline news, politics and a lot more. 319-527-6099 is the number to join us.
