Psychological Effects of Terrorist Attacks with Sarri Singer

Our 1st Guest is Sarri Singer, Sarri is the daughter of New Jersey Sentator Robert Singer. Until 9/11, Sarri worked 2 blocks away from the World Trade Center. Deeply moved by the tragedy of 9/11, Sarri decided to resign her position and move to Israel to help victims of terrorism. Sarri volunteered with various organization working with victims of terror. On June 11, 2003 Sarri was on Bus 14 in Jerusalem when an 18 yr old Palestinian terrorist dressed as a religious Jew boarded and blew himself up. 16 people were killed including all those seated and standing around her and over 100 people were injured. Sarri was hospitalized for 2 weeks before returning to New Jersey. She appeared on CBS, FOXNews, CNN and radio interviews. She spoke before Congressmen and Senators in Washington and politicians in NY and NJ. Sarri is the founder of Strength to Strength (www.stosglobal.org), a 501(c)3  non-profit organization established to support victims of terrorism around the world with long-term psychological needs. The psychological effects of a terrorist attack are often experienced years after the tragic incident, at which time help may no longer be available. Global assistance towards victims of terror has often been initially swift at the group level. Sustained assistance for the individual is minimal and diminishes with the world's collective memories of the event.
