After working both sides of the curtain, after his military service, Alan Wilbar took a 47’ dive while down rigging a circus tent resulting in aTBI, coma, broken body, PTSD, and a lifetime of learning.

Published poet, Alan wrote incessantly as he recovered, eventually editing his work with “Doc” Cote, compiling a selection for publication. Friend Dave Maheu, home from LA where he was working at Entertainment Tonight read the collection and Learning Man was born. A multimedia presentation, it takes a nonsurvivor audience on the journey thru tbi, recovery, showing them what WE see, helping them feel what WE feel. Helping them understand brain injury isn’t just a "bump on the head”,  rather a life changing event for all concerned. Poetry punctuates each level of rebirth, helping them understand further thru metaphor and image with some wry, catchy music finishing up the presentation. A tiny slice of this was offered at a recent preview show to great response and reaction. We think they’re ready for the message.

This show is a gathering place for anyone seeking recovery from the challenges of life on life's terms. We discuss useful tools that have helped us lighten the load, of our journey through recovery. This is a "we" recovery program, because it is in the "we," that we find the new "me."

We focus on the four A's of Recovery: Awareness, Acceptance, Action and Adaptation. This is a place for survivor's striving to become thrivers.

Front part of show is a featured guest. The second is Open Mic & Indie Music sure to inspire! Host is Kim Justus, author In a Flash: Miracles Here and Beyond found at inaflash.org & "Like" at facebook.com/inaflash.org
