Most of us with Brain Injuries have noticed a difference in not only how we see things but also how we're responding to things previously (i.e. before our TBI) defined as 'acceptable'. Empathy, like Love is a conditioned emotional response most Humans develop. However, for those of us with TBI's, most tend to view us as 'unempathetic' and lack the ability to display a 'proper emotional response', forgetting the fact we have a BRAIN INJURY. So, like most humans, we become a product of our environments regardless of what we profess to 'know'.
