BI, ABI, CBI, MRI, CAT, OT, PT' SPL, BIA, TBIN, PEER, (GOD, naturally) and what seems to me at times - the FBI's top 10 list - TBI.  YOU FOUND ME!!!  And we always figured these cornfields would hide me. Through all the drugs, names of drugs; for all the neuro-something professional names with loooooong reasons why - I simply feel "understanding myself" (UMS) and others with BI's is more important, much more important, than say, uh, learning math skills after a TBI.  OK teacher, Doc's didn't call it Traumatic because its not!  The rattled portions of your mind, your thoughts, the multiple bruising of the brain causes you to totally fall back in time - like birth with a beard.

TBI - Traumatic Brain Injury.  Might I say, "a class of their own" or the bullies of the brain injury neighborhood. All BI's are lifechanging, but TBI' attacks the entire unaware compound, like Pearl Harbor or Twin Towers. "Didn't see it coming."  Fired on by the old nemisis?  Get up, face it and walk (or hobble) right into the face of, uh, not danger - THE CHALLENGE!  How?  I've listened closely to the Docs, spending day after literal day in therapy or in class rooms of 8 - 12 survivors, occassionally caregivers'  Since learning to respeak, 4 years was spent in BI Coping Skills, Social Skills, PEER Mentoring and Group Leader.  Hanging out with the troops, we call it. Docs know what they know, some are more skilled than others.  TBI folks will know what they know, if the 'trap' is never escaped. Be Houdini..
