Dawn Westfall has been a Speech-Language Pathologist for 23 years at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Evansville Indiana; during which she's been an inpatient therapist who helped develop the Brain Injury Program for HealthSouth.  Dawn next assisted in starting Outpatient Day Treatment Program for the Community Rehabilitation Services'.  That program helped TBI Surviors return to work, school, or living independently.   Her career progressed back over to the main Hospital as she managed the outpatient therapy department, some clinics, and the van service.   Currently, Dawn works three days a week doing cognitive retraining with individuals who have suffered a TBI. "Working with individuals who have sustained a TBI has always been my passion," she offers, as facilitator of the Indiana Brain Injury Support Group in Evansville, or "The Pocket City".   Listen in, as our discussion will be based support group functions and how they build and grow.

We hope to discuss 'SPL'  & her career.  Overjoyed to have an SLP on my show.  You see - I find a Speach Therapist "handier than a pocket on a shirt." (that's Southern Indiana speak!)

Also, a family to call in, sharing the upcoming Bowling for Brain Injury info as well a story.  We'll talk Deborah's efforts this week for the Surviors Pay It Forward foundation gathering the 26th in Las Vegas and whatever else pops into my mind; and, uh, I remember!&
