Building our TBI Connections through Social Networking

As we already know, society exists in a digital age, especially with the way we communicate with one another through the use of computers and mobile devices. Many of us use the Internet for a variety of reasons. Looking up information, checking/sending email, playing games, shopping, instant messaging, and paying bills are common activities people do online everyday.

Another tool that can be very effective online is the use of social networking sites such as Facebook, Foursquare, Twitter, and the like. In addition to keeping in touch with family and friends, we can also use these social networking sites for support groups and online communities.

In the TBI community, online communities can be so helpful when it comes to support. These communities and/or support groups offer a safe environment for mutual support and encouragement. Knowing that everyone who is part of their support group share a common interest and that they are not alone can be extremely helpful.

This show aims to look at the positive effect that interaction through social networking sites has on the TBI community and its members. Kevin will share his thoughts on how social networking has impacted his life as a TBI Thriver and encourages listeners to call in and share their experiences.
