The word “sensitivity" is often regarded as an emotional state -- one of being easily hurt or provoked. Yet for many brain injury survivors, this word means something more than emotion: it is also our physical reality. We have to deal with changes to sight, hearing, and other senses. We might have to wear sunglasses to shield us from the brightness of light, headphones to diminish ambient noise. No matter the situation, many of us have to find ways to deal with physical hypersensitivity.
