Milly Bennett was a reporter for the Moscow Daily News. After a days work she is confronted at home by the secret police about to arrest her husband. She covered murders in San Francisco, fires in Hawaii and a civil war in China. Moscow presents challenges that would test her in many ways. Milly's husband is arrested and she tries to get him out but there are obstacles in her way. The Soviet State is not the place for those that De weak or afraid to speak out. The harsh winters, the snow and the ice and the betrayals and hardships she faces makes this novel outstanding as we enter her world in 1934 when it begins for readers and we flash back to the beginning where is all began in 1931.
