Isobel Spice has her own way of investigating cases although she is not a police woman. Hired to play Emma in a play about the Life and Times of John Philip Sousa what she does not know is that someone is out to make sure that the play flops, does not get off the ground and that she never sees the light of day. Someone sabotages the masking on the curtains, someone poisons the lead actress and someone puts laxatives in the coffee.
