I wrote this in reply to a post. I thought it was worth seeing again I was not going to way in on this discussion. Here are my thoughts. We have heard great one-liner's at many Black funerals across America. You feel good when you hear it. Always followed by what we are going to do next. Jessie and Al have been around for a long time. Nothing has gotten any better. They will be dead and gone. Somebody will want to raise from the dead to speak at another funeral. What we going to do next has never stopped anyone from being killed. You can also throw in a couple of major events. ie: Million Man March, Million Woman March, and all kinds of days not to spend money. We are still here with a modern-day lynching of a Black man. The only thing that remained consisted. Is there will be another Black person killed by police in the next six months. So Simp I understand your point. We have had enough feel-good speeches. Where is the action behind the speech??? One, last thing Every Black person we consider important will show up at this funeral. We have a home town person I listen to all the time. His message is clear. Do you know how many people support him in his cause? He just went over 500,000 out of all the Blacks in this country. Not perfect but more real than the rest. Roland Martin, Check it out for yourself. A modern-day Forward times.
