Home Ownership Pride Enriched (HOPE) Retraining Ctr with LynAnne Moon & Joe Lorentzen
The HOPE Retraining center is a community outreach program that offers retraining to homeless citizens with the principle focus of homeless veterans within El Paso, Texas and it's surrounding county. As such they are establshing themselves as a 501(c)3 organization.
While all homeless in the area will be considered as candidates for the program to be offered by the organization, there will be an emphasis on chronically homeless veterans and veterans whose families have gone from a solid income to part time employment or unemployment. The initial focus will be on the unemployed and then followed by the underemployed.
Existing community outreach programs such as the El Paso Coalition for the Homeless will be utilized along with the Veterans' Administration (V.A.) and other funding sources. Many cities including El Paso spend more on the chronically homeless than what they would spend on the temporary homeless, even though the chronically homeless make up one-tenth of the homeless.
